TAMA — A house in the 1700 block of State Street in Tama sustained heavy damage, and the garage and two vehicles are considered a total loss after a fire early Tuesday morning.

According to a press release from the Tama Police Department, the 911 dispatch center received a call from a homeowner about a residential fire at 12:16 a.m. The Tama and Toledo police and fire departments, Tama EMS and the Tama County Sheriff’s Office all responded to the scene and found that the garage was “fully engulfed” as the fire had made its way into the attic area. In addition to the damage to the house, the garage and the two vehicles, a neighboring residence also sustained minor damage. No injuries were reported.

The Tama County Emergency Management Agency and Alliant Energy also assisted at the scene.
