Legal fireworks, Local 4th of July opportunities
Fireworks, food, fun
In Iowa, SF303 banned cities and counties from prohibiting the use of fireworks on July 3rd, July 4th, and December 31st. Cities must allow consumer grade fireworks from the hours of 9am to 10pm on those dates. Meaning fireworks can be ignited on those dates in Tama County.
Fireworks must be launched on private or real property, Iowa code 727.2. Use of public spaces to use pyrotechnics is still illegal.
For a free public display, residents can come view the city sponsored firework display put on by the cities of Tama and Toledo. Set off by the Toledo and Tama fire departments, the display will begin at dusk from Toledo Heights.
Before the firework show, STC Recreation will be opening up the concession stand at Toledo Heights once again. Items including hot dogs, brats, burgers, walking tacos, candy, snowcones, and more will be available before the firework display. Funding goes back to STC Recreation.
