Big Wheels

Tama Library’s Touch A Truck Night on Friday, June 27

Big wheels keep on turnin’, big engines keep on burnin’, as they’re rollin’, rollin’, rollin’ down to the Tama Civic Center parking lot. Next Friday, the 27th, from 5 to 7 p.m., the Tama Public Library, along with multiple local businesses, will host Touch A Truck Night.

This free event will host and display heavy work equipment for kids to look, touch, and learn about. Among the multitude of vehicles that will be on display will be Manatt’s Cement Mixer, K&M Sanitation’s Garbage Truck, Precision Towing’s Tow truck, Werner Feed & Grain with a Tractor, and Semi. Tama Fire, Police, and Public Works will have equipment on display too. Tama EMS will supply a helicopter as well.

Hotdogs and ice cream will be served at the event until they’re gone. So, while you’re munching on your weenie you can walk around and see all the magnificent pieces of machinery on display.

Tama Library Director Kris Collins talked about the event.

“We hope to celebrate the hard-working equipment and people who operate them in our town. These community helpers are important to the people of Tama and getting a chance to let kids get up close and personal with these big rigs, and those who run them will be a fun summer treat,” she said.
