Tama council OKs taser purchase, LED light replacements
On a gloomy evening with the wind whistling through the trees and rain sprinkling down, the Tama City Council met for their annual meeting. First up, the council approved a resolution to transfer money to pay some items off.
Next up, the council approved replacing the lights in many of the city rooms with LEDs, as well as the street lights. This will cost approximately $18,000 after rebates with Alliant Energy.
The Axon body camera taser was approved. This is the same company the police department went with before. The contract will cost approximately $57,000 over five years.
When it came to department updates, Public Works was first up. The director found the most colorful way of saying business as usual as he stated, “S***’s flowin’ down there, water’s pumpin’, any questions?”
EMS reported doubling the number of transfers last month.
The Fire Department reported meeting with a contractor for the extension to the firehouse. Updates were provided on the possibility of the LOSAP program coming to Iowa and Tama County.
Mayor Brian Hanus expressed his thanks to everyone who worked and helped with the festival.
