The Tri-County Community Band will begin rehearsals once again for their annual performance at the Lincoln Highway Bridge Festival, which will be on Friday, May 16 at the Tama Civic Center.
If you have a musical background, you are encouraged to attend rehearsals on Monday evenings from 7 to around 8:30 p.m. The first rehearsal will be Monday, April 7 in the STC High School Band Room.
Ability level does not matter as the group is all about having fun and making music.
“From my perspective as a teacher, this is some of the very best educational opportunities our students can get, sitting alongside adults from the area and confirming music is a lifelong activity!” STC and Community Band Director Mike Carnahan said.
Carnahan also mentioned concerns about knocking the rust off”,
“It DOES NOT MATTER when the last time was you played your instrument! Make plans to come to rehearsals and we can help and also promise it will be a lot of fun.”
The band is made up of individuals from Tama and Toledo, along with Belle Plaine, Marshalltown, Victor and many other surrounding areas.
Old and new members alike can be on the lookout for new music featured this year, along with some of the band’s staples.
