This week’s Tama County Supervisors meeting

The Tama County Administration Building at 104 W State St. in Toledo will be closed to public until further notice.

TOLEDO – After waking up to a county blanketed in a dove white fluffy coating of snow, the usual Monday morning group of government conscious citizens sullied the fallen snowflakes with their footprints as they came out to attend this week’s supervisors meeting. Tama County Engineer Ben Daleske started his weekly report with the emotional announcement that 25-year veteran of the roads department, Bill Suchanek, had passed away. Daleske went on to report that the trucks were out for the first snow of the season and the bridge crew is still working on decking. The B Avenue grading project has started as well. Final vouchers for the E 43 culvert and the E 64 paving projects were approved.

New appointments to the Compensation Board were approved. They are as follows: Bruce Lenhart & Nick Podhajsky for Board of Supervisors, Benjamin Schemmel for County Sheriff, Susan Jones for County Attorney, Lisa Murty for County Treasurer, Barb Jordan for County Auditor, and Kelly Smith for County Recorder.

Katherine Ollendieck with Tama County Economic Development stopped by towards the end of the meeting to speak to the supervisors. Among other topics, Ollendieck talked about a QR code that has been created, and when used takes the user to the new travel Tama County website. The QR codes will be put up around the county.

Claims totaling $208,413.99 were approved.
