On Sept. 5, the Toledo Police Department formally filed charges against a Tama man suspected of grooming, kidnapping and sexually abusing a teenage victim.
Jose Sic Muz, 40, was taken to the Tama County Jail, and he has since posted a $10,000 bond and been released. According to a criminal complaint, a report was shared with the Toledo PD that Sic Muz had reached out to the alleged victim via social media beginning when the victim was 12 years old. Eventually, Sic Muz started to provide the victim with gifts including an iPhone and subsequently began to pursue the victim sexually.
The complaint alleges that on Aug. 18, Sic Muz picked up the victim in Toledo “under the ruse of showing (the victim) something on his phone” and subsequently kissed and groped the victim while trying to force the victim to touch him sexually.
Sic Muz has been charged with second degree kidnapping, a Class B felony, grooming, a Class D felony, and lascivious conduct with a minor, a serious misdemeanor. A no-contact order has been issued between Sic Muz and the victim, and hearing and trial dates have not yet been set.
