Elberon Auxiliary holds July meeting
ELBERON – The Elberon American Legion Auxiliary Unit 226 met July 11 with the meeting opening in usual form.
Secretary Norma Riha called the roll of officers and read the minutes of the June meeting. Treasurer Pat Sauer gave the financial report. Both reports were approved as read.
Old business included the June 25 County Legion and Auxiliary meeting hosted by Elberon Auxiliary. It began with a noon potluck, which was enjoyed by the 21 members attending, then followed by the annual flag disposal ceremony led by the Clutier Legion. A joint meeting concluded the afternoon.
A sympathy card was signed for Auxiliary Gold Star Sister, Jerrine Pippert for the loss of her husband, Loren. A memorial was included.
The Tama County American Legion and Auxiliary Iowa Veterans Home picnic will be held Aug. 3. Elberon is to furnish a large bowl of salad, sliced tomatoes and two pies. Marce will furnish the salad, Lorraine the pies and Norma will find the tomatoes.
The meeting concluded by Draping the Charter of the unit for member Mary Vavroch who was a 30-year member.
Riha won the door prize.
