Elberon Auxiliary holds March meeting

ELBERON — The Elberon American Legion Auxiliary met March 12 with the meeting opening in usual form. Vice President Marce Nekola presented the colors and offered an opening prayer. “The Vacant Chair” was read by President Lorraine Vileta and the group joined in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and the Preamble to the Constitution of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Secretary Norma Riha called roll of the officers and read the minutes of the December meeting. Treasurer Pat Sauer gave the financial report. Both reports were approved.

A Thinking of you card was signed for Mary Vavroch and Easter cards for Gloria Burkle, Dorothy Hayek and Jerrine Pippert. A birthday card was signed for Betty Prusha.

Members approved the scholarship applicant and recipient.

Sauer agreed to do membership for next year.

Foreign Food Fair was held March 9 at the Veterans Home. Vileta furnished the three dozen kolaches required. Diane Caloud took them for us.

A Tama County Legion/Auxiliary meeting will be held at 1:30 p.m. on March 26 in Clutier.

The Tama County Spring Conference is March 30 in Tama.

The Tama County Government Day for junior and senior students will be held in Toledo April 10. Sauer will furnish four dozen cookies for lunch.

Iowa Veterans Home Bingo will be played April 17 with Tama County Auxiliaries hosting.

The May 27 Memorial Day Program was discussed.

Sauer served as hostess.

Vileta won the door prize.
