Veterans Day observed at STC schools
As people all around the nation took time last week to celebrate the brave men and women who have served our country, STC schools put on their own Veterans Day festivities.
The day started with a reverse parade past the elementary. Children from Pre-K to Fourth lined up, wagging the nation’s flag and waving little hands. Car after car drove by with local veterans smiling and saluting with delight.
From the elementary, veterans ventured to the high school, where breakfast was served. Students helped cater to the honored guests. The vets sat around some grub, chewin’ the fat and enjoying the morning.
As the uniformed service men and women peppered the lunchroom, students were ushered into the gymnasium. Students from all three schools filled the bleachers of the part time auditorium. Their heads swiveled to the north side, where a lectern stood. After their meal, the distinguished guests entered the gymnasium and took their places in the chairs in the middle of the room.
There were multiple speakers during the preceding program; with the main event being the speech given by veteran and artist Eric ‘Ro’ Rosario. Towards the end of the program, after many a wonderful rousing word, flags representing all forces of the United States Military were walked up to the front; and revered.
