A good little meeting

Supervisors gathering runs smoothly and quickly

This week’s supervisors meeting went by rather quickly, without any fireworks going off. Big cheese Bill Faircloth was absent, so Supervisor Curt Hilmer once again had the reins. Hilmer still stumbled and tumbled a bit when it came to the monotonous particulars of parliamentary procedure, but he amended his unintentional missteps in a mirthful fashion.

The Tama County engineer reported that the Toledo Deer Creek bridge’s deck will be poured this week. This is also the last week of 4/10 hour days, and a final voucher for the bridge project on B Avenue was approved.

A public hearing for the precinct redistricting was held at ten in front of the supervisors. The only public comment came from Richard Arp, who was on the precinct redistricting committee, who said he hadn’t heard any comments about it himself.

The supervisors approved changing next week’s meeting to Tuesday, Sept. 5, due to the Labor Day holiday.

Also approved was a liquor license for the Traveling Tapster.
