After it was announced STC School Board member Penny Tyynismaa was moving out of the district, the hunt to find a fill-in was on. Being a temporary spot on the board before this falls election, the new member will have to run again to retain their spot.

Two candidates emerged as contenders for the seat. After the board voted, Megan Thiessen was selected to fill the seat over Chris Gustafson.

The District is currently in the midst of redistricting. The new map could have major impacts on the board come this fall.
