Supervisors work hard for the money

TOLEDO – Money was the big subject for the Monday, June 12 Tama County Supervisor meeting. Tama County Treasurer Amanda Kriegel brought the subject of changing banks to the supervisors. County money is currently in both the State Bank of Toledo and the Lincoln Savings Bank. While some money will remain in both banks, it was decided that the county’s main operating account, which currently resides at the State Bank of Toledo, will be transferred to the Lincoln Savings Bank. The county’s main operating account, on average, has in it around $3 million. The chief reason for the change is that while the State Bank of Toledo has a 2% interest rate, The Lincoln Savings Bank has a 3% interest rate.

The RAGBRAI ordinance public hearing went off without a hitch. Katherine Ollendieck with Tama County Economic Development was on hand to answer questions. The ordinance is for a single day during RAGBRAI. The supervisors waived the second and third readings of the ordinance.

The Tama County Engineer brought a bridge agreement for the supervisors to sign and told about the durapatcher needing a new hose. The Toledo Deer Creek bridge project continues with work on piling and shouldering. Claims totaling $118,550.31 were approved.
