TOLEDO – The Toledo Farmers Market opened up their 2023 season on Friday, June 2. Clouds and light sprinkles did not deter local shoppers.

A new addition to this year’s farmers market is the inclusion of food trucks and other various food vendors. First up was Last Ride BBQ out of Marshalltown. The BBQ was well received by market goers and filled the courthouse square with smells of delicious smoked meats.

This year we’re going to take a look into a different vendor each week and feature them more in depth. First up was Kate Mattingly of Kate’s Kitchen Creations. Kate runs her bakery out of her kitchen (hence the name) and is new to the Toledo Farmers Market this year. By no means is this her first year of market experience, as she has spent time previously at Grinnell’s farmers market.

Kate has recently made multiple appearances at the Tama County Market and seen immense success, selling out her first weekend and nearly doing the same a second time. Kate looks to be a top seller this season with her various baked goods. For further information and updates follow Kate’s Kitchen Creations on Facebook.

Next week’s market will include an appearance from Iowa Premium and feature Linda Gillespie providing musical entertainment. Join in on the fun Friday’s from 5-7 on the east lawn of the courthouse.
