Ambulance purchase, wastewater intern approved at Tama council meeting
At the Tama City Council meeting on May 1, the contract to purchase a new ambulance for $193,172 was approved. It was also approved to buy a new motherboard and keypad for Fire and EMS.
The new motherboard will automatically unlock the doors for fifteen minutes after a call goes out, so the first responders don’t have to punch in their key code to get to the ambulance or fire trucks. It was made official as well to put a new wrap on ambulance 42.
The Tama Pump’s liquor license was renewed. The council discussed the Fiber Optic Line that Alliant Energy will be putting through Tama.
The topic of moving the shed that sits behind King Tower to the Lincoln Highway Bridge Park was discussed, as the King Tower may be declared a Historical Building.
A resolution was passed to close Siegel Street for the carnival. A resolution was approved to set a public hearing to vacate the public alley. A resolution was passed to close the street in front of the Eagles after the parade on Lincoln Highway Days.
It was approved to hire high schooler Samantha Schneider as an intern for the Tama Water and wastewater departments.
The Council is still waiting on core sample testing on the Lincoln Highway Bridge.
