STC alum graduates from FBI academy

QUANTICO, Va. — Major Thomas Cooper, the son of Randy and Connie Cooper of rural Toledo and a Class of 2000 STC graduate, was one of 247 law enforcement officers from across the country to graduate from the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Va. on March 16.

Cooper currently oversees criminal investigations and the training division with the Broken Arrow (Oklahoma) Police Department, where he has served for the last 18 years.

The 285th session of the National Academy consisted of men and women from 47 states, the District of Columbia, 28 countries, four military branches and five federal civilian organizations. The academy offers 10 weeks of advanced communication, leadership and fitness training. On average, participants have 21 years of law enforcement and usually return to their agencies to serve in executive level positions.

FBI Director Christopher Wray, who is pictured with Cooper, delivered remarks at the ceremony. A total of 54,154 graduates have completed the National Academy since it began in 1935.
