STC Middle School vocal music to perform at festival in Ames

The Midwest Children’s Choir Festival will be held on Friday, March 31, 2023, in Stephens Auditorium in Ames at 7 p.m. The South Tama Middle School vocal department under the direction of Christine McFate will participate in the Midwest Children’s Choir Festival. Students participating in the festival are Clarissa Dvorak, Clayton Fritz, Skyla DeSorbo, Abrielle Bullshoe, and Gretchen Mead.

The festival is sponsored by the Ames Children’s Choirs and will feature guest conductor Dr. Derrick Fox, Director of Choral Activities and Distinguished Associate Professor of Music at the University of Nebraska-Omaha. Three guest choirs will perform separately: the Heartland Youth Choir, the Catholic Youth Choir, and the Ames Children’s Choirs. Then, select singers from across the state of Iowa will join the featured choirs to perform in the Festival Mass Choir, totaling 320 singers.

Tickets are $22 for adults and $12 for seniors (age 65) and youth (age 18 and under), and are available at the Stephens Ticket Office or through TicketMaster. For more information call (515) 290-1422.
