According to an accident report from the Iowa State Patrol, Amy Demeulenaere of Chelsea was traveling east on County Highway E66, and Ashton Hicks of Montezuma was traveling north on County Highway V18.

Hicks, who failed to stop and yield the right of way to Demeulenaere, ran into the passenger side of Demeulenaere’s vehicle while in the roadway intersection. Demeulenaere rolled into the ditch coming to rest on the passenger side. Hicks left the roadway coming to rest on its wheels in the ditch. The drivers of both vehicles were transported to a hospital by private vehicle with possible injuries. Hicks was cited for failure to stop and yield the right of way to Demeulenaere.
