Supervisors approve construction program, DOT budget

On Monday morning, the Tama County Board of Supervisors discussed the use of federal funding as it comes in from the infrastructure bill signed by President Joe Biden last year. A motion to approve the new construction program and DOT budget received unanimous approval.

An Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is planned to be added to county health insurance plans, and employees who have been traumatized will get 3 free mental health visits. The board also discussed allowing employees who have built up extra sick leave over time be able to donate their extra hours to a fund for colleagues who need those extra hours in more severe cases.

New County Treasurer Amanda Kriegel plans to appoint Sarah Gilbert to be an assistant. Also discussed was the planning of a two-day musical event that would take place on September 16-17 in rural Tama County. The party discussing the event said they have hosted similar festivals before in Sigourney and Jefferson, and they’re planning for a capacity of 300 people.
