STC Large Group Speech advance to State

Congratulations to the STC Large Group Speech team for their outstanding performance on Jan. 22 at the Iowa High School Speech Association (IHSSA) District Large Group contest in Pella.

Nine out of STC’s 12 competing events advanced to IHSSA State Large Group Contest with Division I ratings. The one-act play received straight Division 1 ratings from three judges.

The Large Group State Speech Competition will take place on Saturday, Feb. 5. South Tama will travel to Cedar Rapids Kennedy High School for their competition.

Advancing to IHSSA State

Citizen Illegal (choral reading): Luis Avalos, Keiler Alvarado, Alondra Bolanos, Alex Carrera, Arianna Herrera, Itzel Herrera, Ciela Ornelas, Almendra Ramirez, and Jasmin Ramos.

The Glass Menagerie (ensemble acting): Peyton Van De Walle and Ella Rosario.

Yard Work (solo mime): Isaac Shuckahosee.

All Because of Agatha (one-act play): Sahara Downs, Jonah Houghton, Daryn Cherveny, Riley Grimes, Autumn Steinback, Fred Witt, Libby Albright, Jalyssa Rozevink, and Rae Curran-Banda.

Bright Star (musical theatre): Libby Albright, Luis Avalos, Riley Grimes, Itzel Herrera, Jonah Houghton, and Fred Witt.

KNTK (TV news): Keiler Alvarado, Alex Carrera, Abigail Chyma, Arianna Herrera, Kara Nachazel, Ciela Ornelas, and Maya Ortiz.
