Four veterans from Tama County made the Eastern Iowa Honor Flight out of Cedar Rapids on Oct. 19.

Fran Behounek and Mick Behounek, both of Chelsea, and Denny Dolash and Connie Reese, both of Tama, were chosen to go on the flight to Washington D.C.

They left at 7:45 a.m. with their chaperones Julie Mohls, Taylor Hrabak and Jeff Dolash.

They all enjoyed seeing the World War II, Lincoln, Korea, Vietnam, Marine Corp and Air Force Memorials.

While in D.C. they entered Arlington Cemetery and got to witness the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Buses then shuttled the Honor Flight veterans back to Reagan National Airport for the flight home.

The group arrived home at 8:45 p.m. and were greeted by a military band and an airport packed full of family and friends.
