Nathan Bear was honored as the Grand Marshal of the 2021 Meskwaki Settlement School Homecoming Parade on Oct. 8. Several organizations showed up with decorated floats and vehicles to make for a robust celebration on the Settlement last Friday. Bear is being driven near the front of the parade by his son Matt Bear.
The theme of the 2021 Meskwaki Settlement School Homecoming Parade was Slash the Spartans. The Warriors Homecoming opponent was the Collins-Maxwell Spartans who defeated Meskwaki 42-14. Some of the parade entries took the theme to its most literal conclusion, dressing up as the guitarist Slash from Guns N’ Roses.

During the week of Oct. 8 the Meskwaki Warriors celebrated Homecoming with a parade that wound through the Settlement from the Casino to the Settlement School.

Senior Homecoming Court members included Ashton Tuske, Brycen Kapayou, Reimundo Balderas, Eleron Hainline, Geanna Bear, Leila Lasley-Santos, Ayanna Brown, Shye Johnson.

Underclassmen Homecoming Court members included juniors Kiron White and Sophie Snow, sophomores Christopher Blackcloud and Sia Bear and freshman Ethan Hainline and Kiance Roberts.

The 2021 Homecoming Queen and King were Shye Johnson and Brycen Kapayou.
