Scenes from STC Homecoming Week 2021

Seniors Luis Avalos and Adrianna Cervantes were crowned Homecoming King and Queen at the coronation ceremony held on Sept. 16 at Trojan Field. Behind them are last year’s Homecoming royalty, Tylese Rosenberger and Jhonny Nunez.

South Tama County celebrated Homecoming Week last week with a schedule packed with activities. The Homecoming theme for 2021 was “Shooting for the Stars” with a week full of home contests by the varsity fall sports programs as well as special visits to the Elementary students by the cross country team, volleyball team, student council, cheerleaders and color guard and the football team. A reverse parade was again organized for the community to drive through campus with several teams and groups set up along the route on Sept. 16 to greet the cars passing through.

South Tama students enjoyed a week of festivities which included the usual dress up days, classroom door decorating contest, a movie screening on Friday and a Color War after the football game Friday night.

This year’s Homecoming Court featured 14 students including Queen Candidates Adrianna Cervantes, Kailee Meek, Carly Mathes-Henle, JoJo Tyynismaa, Lauren Veit, Gracie Vest and Laila Villa. King Candidates were Luis Avalos, Jordan Bly, Sal Diego, Ishimwe Gentil, Boden Koehler, Trusten Rosenberger and Kyler Smith.

This year’s coronation ceremony was held outdoors at South Tama Trojan Field on the evening of Sept. 16.
