Montour Community Club plans May garage sale, to reset other events

The Montour Community Club met on March 16, 2020 with 14 members present.

The Secretary and Treasure reports were read and approved.

It was decided with the coronavirus warning that we would cancel the Pepper Parties that were scheduled for March 28 and April 25. We will reschedule sometime in the summer.

We will schedule a “stop bleed” first aid class at a later date. Many were interested in having this class.

The Community Club will have a garage sale May 1-2 at the center providing the social ban has been lifted at that time. If not, we will reschedule. The proceeds will go to the Community Club for any on -going projects. We are asking for donations. To make the preparation go faster, we would ask that you price your items before bringing them in. We will determine later when we will be ready to accept the donations. Any items that didn’t sell will be donated to the Clothes Closet in Tama.

The Montour shirt sales have been very good. As of March 16, we have sold 157 shirts. Many were sent to former Montour residents that still call Montour “home”, even though they may be miles away. Some of the shirts were sent to California, Texas, Ohio, Minnesota, Missouri and Mississippi. It has been fun reconnecting with some of these folks. Thank you Deet for taking care of this overwhelming project. Also thanks to John Campbell (a former Montourian) owner of Ultimate Image in Toledo for getting the shirts printed in a timely fashion.

The painting prep at the center has been completed. The painting will start March 20. During the shut down on social gatherings, it will be easier to stay ahead of schedule on getting the project finished.

A canvas picture of the water tower was presented as an example of prints we would like to display at the center. We will meet again to look over some old Montour photos and select the ones we would like to made into canvas prints. Different folks have shown an interest in purchasing these canvas prints for the center. We certainly do appreciate the generosity shown.

Bill Eberhart will get prices on flag poles. We would like to have a pole and flag displayed this spring. We also discussed having a second flag displayed with the Montour Logo like that’s printed on our new shirts. All thought it was good idea. We will talk to John Campbell to see if this possible.

Don Campbell will get the supplies needed to replace a gutter elbow.

After a motion was made to adjourn , everyone pitched in to remove all the chairs in the dining area to get ready for the painter on Friday. And as always, we appreciate how everyone volunteers and works together to get projects done.
