Fun Night for Nature Center to be held on April 4

As spring is quickly approaching, so is the annual Tama County Conservation Fun Night event. Plans have been set for the Tama County Nature Center to host Fun Night on Saturday, April 4. Doors will open at 5 p.m. as well as the silent auction with festivities to follow.

This year’s meal will be catered by Spanky’s Restaurant out of Gladbrook, which will include a barbequed brisket and pull pork sandwich, as well as two hot sides, one cold side, and a dessert. Our guest speaker, Robert Vavra, will be following dinner with his program titled “The Day of the Hunter-Gatherer.”, discussing the fur, hatting, clamming and fishing industry along the Mississippi River. The live auction will wrap up the evening, giving you a chance to bid on handmade, baked, and donated goods and services from the businesses and individuals of Tama County.

The guest speaker is a free, public event thanks to sponsorship by Humanities Iowa, but tickets will need to be purchased to partake in the catered meal along with the live and silent auctions. To purchase tickets, call our office at 641-484-2231 or stop by at 2283 Park Road Toledo, Iowa 52342. New to the event this year is a 50/50 raffle where you have an opportunity to purchase tickets at the door to increase your odds of winning. All proceeds for this event will go towards our environmental education and recreation department as well as completing the lower level of the nature center as a classroom and display space.

We are accepting donations or auction items from local businesses, bakers, vendors, and makers. Here is your opportunity to showcase your goods! Drop off donations/items at our nature center or call 641-484-2231 or arrange pickup. For any further questions, call our office.
