Toledo-Tama Kiwanis hold business meeting

The January 29th Kiwanis meeting was devoted to carrying out the business of the group. The group found that their financial status is in good condition and approved the minutes of the previous meeting.

They then went to committee reports. Larry Fletcher has taken on the task of selecting a new plaque that will have an updated list of the names of those who have served as president.

The Golden Achievement awards banquet will be held at the Country Club to honor outstanding middle school students. It will take place on March 17th and invitations will be sent to the families of students who are chosen to participate. This year there will be a directive that, since this is a school function, no alcoholic beverages will be allowed. Such beverages were brought into the banquet last year, so in order to prevent that from happening this year, the sign containing that information will be posted where families sign in.

The push to increase membership continues. At the next business meeting, the group will generate a list of possible new members, and letters encouraging them to join the group will be sent. It has become increasingly more difficult for the club to carry out its many service activities due to a shortage of members. It is hoped there will be a good response to the invitations to join.
