Tama County Conservation hosting “Kiko Goat Grazing” by Adam Ledvina

Do you want to be an owl? Come join the O.W.L.S. (Older, Wiser, Livelier, Souls) group at Otter Creek Lake & Park. The Tama County Conservation Board naturalist has planned a presentation about Kiko Goat Grazing given by Adam Ledvina at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 12. This presentation will provide lunch.

Learn how Tama County native Adam Ledvina started raising meat goats for invasive brush removal across the state. Helping to create more pasture ground for cattle farmers, open up nature trails for hikers and clear out thickets for hunters and nature lovers. This is an environmentally friendly way to clear out invasive species that does not involve chemical herbicides, heavy machinery, fire, or a crew of workers with chainsaws.

O.W.L.S. is a fun way to get out of the house, learn about nature, and enjoy the company of friends. This lunch & Learn series is scheduled the 2nd Wednesday of each month, and is designed for seniors but all adults are welcome. Meet at the nature center at Otter Creek Park, 2283 Park Road, Toledo, IA. Presentations start at 11 and a light lunch will follow the program (around noon).

The program is free and open to the public. RSVP to Brendan Kelly to help us plan for seats: 641-484-2231 or bkelly@tamacounty.org.
