Fire damages rural home

Fire burned the rear exterior porch area of a home located about eight miles north of Toledo on Monday night, Jan. 20. Firefighters from Toledo and Tama responded to the blaze. Tama Police Chief Jason Bina happened by the scene around 7:30 p.m. and said upon determining it was the structure on fire he radioed Tama County Dispatch to send the fire departments..

According to a social media report on Facebook by the Tama County Sheriff’s Office: Chief Bina from Tama Police Department was on his way home and pulled over to help. Chief Bina rescue a dog that was on a leash next to the house. Deputy Boldt used his fire extinguisher to knock down the blaze until the fire department arrived. Toledo Fire and Tama Fire made quick work of the blaze and saved the house.
