New South Tama High principal is announced
Mark Groteluschen
The South Tama Community School District has announced Mark Groteluschen has accepted the offer to serve as the new principal at South Tama County High School.
Pending board approval, Groteluschen will be officially starting his duties with the district during the summer of 2020.
Groteluschen has worked in education for 14 years, spending the last four years as a high school associate principal in the Muscatine Community School District. Prior to moving to Muscatine, he served as a teacher and an instructional facilitator in the Cedar Rapids Community School District. Groteluschen received his BS from the University of Iowa and his Masters Degree from Drake.
Groteluschen was excited to accept the position, saying, “I am truly honored and beyond excited to serve the students, staff, and parents of South Tama County Community School District. I can’t wait to be a part of #thetrojanway.”
Groteluschen – who grew up in Marshalltown – currently lives in Cedar Rapids. Mark and his wife, Mackenzie, have three children: Harper 10, Ezra 7 and Theo 4.
Roy Frakes is retiring from the high school principial position he has held since 2010.
