The public is invited to get into the holiday spirit with food, conversation and beautiful holiday music at the Creative Retirement Holiday Luncheon on Friday, Dec. 13. Cost of the luncheon is $20; luncheon reservations are due by Tuesday, Dec. 10.

The Holiday Luncheon will be held at the Iowa Valley Continuing Education Conference Center at 3702 S. Center St. in Dejardin Hall. The event begins with lunch and socializing at 11:30, followed by a performance by the Marshalltown High School Holiday Singers.

The Holiday Singers is a select (auditioned) ensemble from within the Marshalltown High School Music Department. The students perform a cappella arrangements of holiday music of various styles. This year’s ensemble is comprised of eight vocalists under the direction of Amy Ose, MHS Director of Vocal Music. The group will be performing throughout the community during the month of December.

Luncheon reservations can be made by calling IVCE at 641-752-4645, or by registering online at www.IowaValley.com. This luncheon is open to all community members; Creative Retirement membership is not required.

Beginning in January, Creative Retirement has planned a variety of programs and events for members. Those interested can find details in the new IVCE EdVenture class schedule that will be mailed and placed in public locations immediately following Christmas.

Creative Retirement is a program geared toward retired or soon-to-be retired people age 50 and up who wish to continue learning. The program offers classes, luncheons, roundtable discussions and day trips which promise to stimulate your mind. Members come from all educational/occupational backgrounds. The annual fee for Creative Retirement is $20 and includes roundtable discussions, which are offered on alternate Fridays throughout the year. Members receive discounted prices for the other classes, luncheons and tours.
