High school musicians selected for Northeast Iowa Honor Band

Three students from the South Tama County High School Band have been selected to participate in the 54th Annual Northeast Iowa Bandmasters’ Association Honor Band Festival on Saturday, December 7. These students will perform in one of two 125-member select ensembles made up of high school instrumentalists from approximately 60 schools in Northeast Iowa.
The students will rehearse all day and present a concert at 7 p.m. in the Oelwein High School Gymnasium. Guest conductors for this year’s festival will be Dr. Danny Gaylen, from the University of Northern Iowa, and Dr. Kevin Kessler, from South Dakota State University.
The following instrumentalists from the South Tama High School Band were selected for this honor: Luis Avalos, sophomore clarinet, Katherin Kofstad, senior bass clarinet, and Jonathan Meyer, sophomore trumpet.
