Do you want to be an owl? Come join the O.W.L.S. (Older, Wiser, Livelier, Souls) group at Otter Creek Lake & Park on Nov. 11. This month features Laura Ingalls Wilder coming to the Tama County Nature Center as well as a traveling tallgrass prairie display.

Tama County Conservation is hosting a very special event. Kirkwood Community College Reference Librarian and historical interpreter Sarah Uthoff will be presenting a program on famous author and pioneer Laura Ingalls Wilder.

Uthoff is a respected authority on Laura Ingalls Wilder’s life. She is a much in demand Humanities Iowa speaker and also has spoken at several of the places Laura lived. She has been a regular speaker at Laura Ingalls Wilder Remembered at the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library in West Branch, Iowa and continues as the keynote speaker at Laura Days at Laura’s birthplace in Pepin, Wisconsin.

O.W.L.S. is a fun way to get out of the house, learn about nature, and enjoy the company of friends. This lunch & Learn series is scheduled the 2nd Wednesday of each month, and is designed for seniors but all adults are welcome. Meet at the nature center at Otter Creek Park, 2283 Park Road, Toledo.

Presentations start at 11 and a light lunch will follow the program (around noon). The program is free and open to the public. RSVP to Brendan Kelly to help us plan for seats: 641-484-2231 or bkelly@tamacounty.org.

Mark your calendars for the last O.W.L.S. of the 2019 which is Nature Themed Holiday Crafts on Dec. 11.
