Former Tama man faces murder charge

Damion Lamont Chavez, 19, identified as formerly Tama area, faces charges of 1st degree murder and 1st degree robbery. The Ft. Tate Martinson, Fort Dodge, who was not initially named by the Fort Dodge Police Department as a manhunt began for Chavez, was arrested Saturday morning and also charged with first-degree robbery, a Class B felony.

Juveniles charged with crimes classified as forcible felonies are usually referred out of juvenile court to face their charges. Martinson was initially transported to the Central Iowa Detention Center in Eldora to await court proceedings Monday morning.
