Toledo City Council hears library annual report

Jennifer Bledsoe, director of the Toledo Public library, reported city revenues of $191,600 for fiscal year 2018-19 during the annual spacial meeting of the city council at the library on Monday evening, Sept. 23.

This included totals of $8,209 in Tama County funding; $2,855 in direct state aid, $3,143 in library income, $600 from donations; and $2,365 in grants.

On the expense side, salary, wages and CE training expense totaled $87,274; all printed materials costs were $7,679; DVD purchases- $900; audio purchases- $1,500; BRIDGES digital- $769; and databases- $165.

The council toured the library and heard a review of activities. Sheri McFate is library assistant director and Mary Brandt is library assistant.

Bledsoe also reported total registered patrons were 4,213 with 169 patrons added during he year.

A breakdown of services and activities includes: total computer users- 3,673; guest Wifi visit- 1,488; total library visits- 40,198; meeting room use- 111; meeting room attendance- 557; volunteers 98 and volunteer hours- 198.

And, total library programs for family or adults- 46 with attendance totaling 467; total kids programs- 115 with attendance totaling1,213; website visits- 3,452 and electronic database use- 795.
