Ida was born on a farm south of Traer to Vince andJulia(Salasek) Axler. Ida had four sisters – Lillian Podhajsky-Kucera,Hattie Hanousek,Martha Kubik, Julia Kubik-and one brother, Elmer Axler.

Ida has three daughters-Barbara Merchant of Vinton, Marilyn Nagel of Campbell, Calif., and Kathy Suhr, deceased-along with six grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
