The South Tama School Board scheduled a special session on Tuesday, Sept. 3, at 5:30 p.m. to take possible action to add a classroom for either 1st or 3rd grade at the elementary school in Tama.

Just before the fall school term began the board learned preliminary student numbers exceeded 20 per classroom in each of five classrooms for the two grades.

A 20 student level in elementary classrooms is the preferred limit Superintendent Jared Smith told the board at their Aug. 19 meeting.

Action on personnel and a discussion of School Policy for expenditures for public purposes were other agenda items listed for Sept. 3.
