Where are they now?

Tama native Rick Crawford and son, Tim, played in the 40th Annual Tennessee Father Son Golf Tournament recently held at Stonehenge Golf Course in Crossville, Tenn.

This marks the 40th consecutive year they have played in this tournament. The duo has come in second place two different times.

Rick, the father, was an outstanding athlete in Tama: He holds the life-time scoring record in basketball at St. Pat’s School and he holds the single rebounding record at Tama High School.

He did this during the era now referred to as the Gary Wheeler-Bud Wiese Sports Era for the Tama Hawks.

This makes his accomplishment even more special. Dave Novotny (son of George and Inez) and me (son of John and Ellen) both got to watch Rick in every basketball gameusually from way down on the bench! Best seat in the house.

Rick’s mother, and Tim’s grandmother, Esther, also holds a wonderful record: The most class reunions ever attended in Tama. Esther has gone to almost every class reunion as she enjoys all the “kids from Tama.” Her second son, Joey, graduated from South Tama High School.
