10th annual Toledo Stoplight Festival, Legion 100th July 5

My Fellow Americans open Stoplight Festival events at 5 p.m. Friday.

Toledo’s 10th annual Stoplight Festival is set for this Friday night, July 5 on the Tama County Courthouse Square downtown.

Named for the iconic stoplight at the corner of Broadway and High, there is plenty for old and young on the entertainment bill with music on the bandstand starting at 5 p.m. with My Fellow Americans followed by Straight Up (Seymours) at 7. See the full line up on Page 10.

At least five class reunions are scheduled at Bumblebees and the Toledo American Legion.

There’s kids bingo, water fights provided by the Toledo Fire Department, inflatables and the National Guard Rock Climbing Wall.

Between band performances, there’s the Tama-Toledo Area Chamber of?Commerce drawings for $1,000 in prizes in the Summer Fun Giveaway.

Straight Up -(The Seymours) headline the Stoplight Festival this year.

Toledo American Legion 100th anniversary celebration

DJ?Music Unlimited will provide music as part of the Reinig-Friedrich Post 72 Toledo American Legion 100th anniversary observance this Friday night, 5-midnight at the Post, 109 N. Main. The public is invited.

The Toledo American Legion was formed 100 years and one month ago according to the 2003 Toledo Sesquicentennial History Book account. It had an initial membership role which totaled only second to Des Moines in the state of Iowa.

It is named in honor of the first Toledo soldier casualty of World War I, Clarence Leroy Reinig and World War II Marine Stanley Friedrich who was the first from Toledo to lose his life World War II.
