Traditional Memorial Day services and some added plans are being undertaken for the Memorial Day weekend at Toledo, Tama, Chelsea and Vining.

The Toledo American Legion is seeking help putting up small flags on veterans’ graves at Woodlawn Cemetery at 8 a.m. on Friday, May 24 and the Avenue of Flags at Woodlawn Cemetery at 6 p.m.

Help taking down the Avenue of flags on Monday, May 26 is also sought by the Legion.

No Toledo services will be conducted at rural cemeteries this year.

Similarly, the Tama American Legion would welcome volunteers to help with the Avenues of flags at St. Patrick and Oak Hill cemeteries on Saturday at 8 a.m.They will meet at the Tama Legion Club, 1105 E. 5th St. Help taking down flags on Monday beginning at St. Patrick Cemetery at 4 p.m. is also appreciated.
