It’s National Police Week, May 12-18, 2019, and here’s three of Tama County’s law enforcement officers from the past pictured in The Tama News-Herald in 1961 when they began wearing official uniforms instead of business suits. From left are Sheriff Forrest L. “Sam” Schaffer, Deputy Sheriff Milo Quigley and Special Deputy Gene Little. Quigley replaced Schaffer when he resigned as sheriff. Schaffer rejoined the sheriff’s office later as a deputy for Quigley.
