Toledo Public Library to hold events on gardening, abandoned towns

The Toledo Public Library is Books.and a whole lot More!! The library recently held a vegetable garden program, a bald eagle program, a barn quilt program, a genealogy program and a cultural history program for our community.
Upcoming events are, Container Gardening on Tuesday, May 21st at 5:30 and Off the Map-Stories of Abandoned and Disappearing Towns Around Iowa, Tuesday, May 28th at 6:30. This is a Humanities Iowa speaker and program. Library programs are free to the public and open to everyone. Many of our events are hosted and funded by the library foundation. Hop onto the library website, www.toledo.lib.ia.us to find out all of the events coming to the library.
Summer programming at the library is right around the corner. Parents/Caregivers may sign up their children now for these events: Summer Reading Program, Art Lab, Science Lab, and Nature Lab. The library will also host movie days on Fridays at 2:00 beginning June 14th. The Tama County Extension and Outreach will provide a Babysitting Basics Training Course at the library on Friday, June 7th from 12:00 6:00 p.m. You may sign up now at the library or the Extension Office, 203 W. High Street, or jump onto their website at www.extension.iastate.edu/tama/. The library will be partnering with the State Bank of Toledo to host a Summer Savings Lab and the Red Cross to host a Pillowcase Project Program. The library will hold story time for preschool kids on each Friday at 10:30 in June and July. There will be two Bake Lab programs in July and a Be Yourself program in July. The library will once again host a 2019 Adult Summer Reading Challenge. Come to the library to get signed up and earn prizes. Challenge runs April 29th through July 31st.
New Movies for May Are: The Avengers, The Avengers-Age of Ultron, The Avengers-Infinity War, Aquaman, Second Act, Mary Poppins Returns, Mortal Engines and Bumblebee.
