Day of awareness set for missing, murdered indigenous women

The National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous women is Sunday, May 5, at the state Capitol complex from 1-3 p.m.

Attendees are encouraged to wear red and join in solidarity and the lives of missing and murdered indigenous women in Iowa are honored.

The Rita Papakee family will be spotlighted. Rita has been missing since Jan. 16, 2015 from the Meskwaki Settlement, her home.
