World Day of Prayer to be observed

Women, men, and children in more than 170 countries and regions will celebrate World Day of Prayer, Friday, March 1, 2019. This year’s service will be held on Friday, March I at 12 noon at the First Presbyterian Church, Toledo. The churches of Tama and Toledo join together in worshipping and having fellowship. Lunch will be served following the service. An offering will be collected to be used as grants to reflect the concerns of WDP Suriname – environmental justice and justice for marginalized people and women empowerment.

World day of Prayer is a worldwide ecumenical movement of Christian women of many traditions who come together to observe a common day of prayer each year. WDP was founded on the idea that prayer and action are inseparable in the service of God’s kingdom. Services begin at sunrise in the Pacific and follow the sun across the globe on the day of celebration. Each year a different country’s committee serves as the writers of the WDP worship service. And each year, we are called to action in response to the concerns raised by the writer country. This year’s country is Slovenia.
