Your input sought for July live production at the Wieting
As Danny Kaye said in “Doing Choreography” from the movie White Christmas, “The theater, the theater, what’s happened to the theater?” The answer to that question is that a live production will be part of the Wieting’s busy summer agenda, July 11,12, and 13.
The name of the play one might ask? Ay, there is the rub. The choice has been narrowed down to two; but, in order for the director, Mary Fasse-Shaw, to make the final decision, that is where you, the local public and readers come in. Two plays have been chosen, but Fasse-Shaw needs to know the interest level before the final decision.
In order to have a great production, actors as well as techies are needed.
Stage manager, set builders, light and sound technicians, costumer, props managers, house manager, and more are all part of the mix.
It has been a long time since a community theatre production has graced the boards at our local opera house; and because of that, there is not a known pool of willing talent to rely upon.
The first play choice is a classic with a large cast, some large parts, but many smaller parts as well, young, old, and inbetween.
The second choice has five major characters and some smaller parts.
Tryouts would occur in April and rehearsals would start in May. Please email Mary Fasse-Shaw at thespian@iowatelecom.net, message her, call or text her at 641-751-5251.
