South Tama schools welcome new staff
Jennifer Perez, Elizabeth Hahle, Haley Ehrich, Vanessa Rivera
New staff and adjustments to current positions have resulted in several mid-year changes in South Tama schools.
Their new assignments and biographical sketches follow.
Classes for South Tama students resume for the second semester on Thursday, Jan. 3, from the holiday break.
Staff members are taking part in a professional development day today, Wednesday, Jan. 2.
Jennifer Perez
Position with the school: Secondary school Spanish liaison
Where are you from: Tama, IA

Attended College at: University of Northern Iowa
Received degree in: English
Family: Mother: Mother: Laura Galvez, Father Nicholas Perez and dogs Luna and Nube
Hobbies: I knit and I have recently started rock climbing
Comments/Goals: To get more Spanish speaking families involved with the community.
Elizabeth Hahle
Position with the school: ESL 5th-8th grade
Where are you from: Waverly, IA but live in Mason City
Number of Years teaching: 0
Attended College at: University of Northern Iowa
Received degree in: Elementary Education
Family: Mother: Jana Hinders, Father James Hinders and husband Coltin Hahle
Hobbies: spending time with friends and family, babysitting, and Netflix
Comments/Goals: I cannot wait to get to know the students and staff at STC! I’m excited to be starting a career in this community and look forward to being a positive addition.
Haley Ehrich
Position with the school: 5th and 6th grade guidance and counseling
Where are you from: Kingston, Ill.
Number of Years teaching: 0! This is my first school counseling position
Attended College at: Ashford University and Loras College
Received degree in: B.A. in Sport Management and M.A. in School Counseling
Family: Husband Devin and dog Romeo
Hobbies: hiking, walking the dog, going to sporting events
Comments/Goals: I’m so excited to begin my Counseling career at STC! I can’t wait to get to know students and families, looking forward to a great year!
Vanessa Rivera
Position with the school: I will be the student at risk liaison at the elementary.

Attended College at: Marshalltown Community College
Family: I am married and have three children, Daniel (husband), Alan (son), Daniel (son) and Lexie (daughter)
Hobbies: I enjoy spending time with my family and working on puzzles.
Comments/Goals: I am looking forward to meeting all the students and help them become academically successful.
