Water bills and Christmas cheer
Sometimes when the expression “Christmas Cheer” comes up it refers to “adult” (alcoholic) beverages. But in this case, the cheer involved a different liquid- city water.
A donor who wishes to remain anonymous repeated a Christmas time tradition donating $200 to the City of Tama to pay municipal water bills for some less fortunate in the community.
Tama City Clerk Alyssa Hoskey contacted her sister, Leah Fonua, a counselor at the South Tama Middle School to help identify any families who might be in need of some help.
The message reached the STC Middle School faculty and “snowballed” according to Assistant Tama City Clerk Nancy Carlson and Hoskey.
The school staff added another $400 to the amount.
From a total of $600, four families in Tama and three in Toledo had their water bills paid in full for December.
