Lincoln Highway Bridge donations being sought

The City of Tama is currently receiving donations to save the Lincoln Highway Bridge.
Much must be done to the bridge to strengthen it so that it can carry heavy truck traffic.
The bridge has been a part of Tama’s and the nation’s history for 113 years and is on the National Register, demonstrating its importance as it is the only bridge bearing the Lincoln Highway letters left in the United States.
The State of Iowa’s Historical Preservation Department has indicated that the bridge is so important that it could possibly attain national historical landmark status.
In order to save this iconic bridge, make donations to the City of Tama and mark those donations to “save the bridge.”
