Toledo-Tama Kiwanis Learn of Otter Creek activities
Guests at the August 15th Kiwanis meeting were Bob Etzel and Logan Roberts, both representing Otter Creek. Bob will soon be retiring, and Logan will be taking over his position.
Logan spoke about the number of activities at Otter Creek and it is, indeed, a busy place. There are activities for people of all ages, and there are available activities all year long. In the winter of 2018, people can learn about maple syrup, owls, and the return of the bald eagles. In the spring, there will be sessions on the mammoth and nature photography. Summer provides sessions on Iowa rivers and an audio tour of the Iowa Valley Scenic Byway. In the winter, there will be backyard bird feeding and a documentary on planet earth.
Logan includes many activities for children like beginning fishing and studying animal furs. Recently, with a grant from the Tama County Foundation, she was able to purchase several canoes, so that will provide even more opportunities. Logan enjoys opportunities to visit school classrooms and speak about environmental topics. There will be an event on October 7th from noon to 4 PM The Fall Festival. There will be more information on this in the future.
President Fletcher thanked Sara Feisel for leading the song and pledge and Cindy Roth for giving the prayer,
