Genesis holds Cake Walk fundraiser for Humane Society

Proceeds from a cake walk and raffle totaling $400 were recently presented to the Tama County Humane Society by Genesis clients and staff at the shelter in Tama. On July 23 Genesis had a Cake Walk and Raffle to raise money for the Tama County Humane Society. Clients and staff were asked to make cakes. There were also cakes from CIRSI and Assembly of God Meskwaki Church. Three professional cakes were baked by Cakes by George, Tammy Kriegel and Val Carson of Delightful Delectables. There were a total of 65 cakes.

Shannon Blackburn and Tammy Pesina with Genesis Development planned the event. Everyone had a good time and most of the Genesis clients won cakes.

Raffle prizes included a sketch of a dog, a cake from Cakes by George and two sets of Adventureland tickets.

$400 was raised for the Humane Society who was very happy to receive the check to help their animals.
