South Tama School Board approves bids, travel expense policy

South Tama School Board members approved several items all on voice votes during a special session on Monday evening, Aug 6. The measures include:

approving third reading of a board policy concerning travel expenses incurred by district employees. Registration, transportation and lodging must be approved by the superintendent and receipts are required for most expenses. Meals are reimbursed for up to $40 daily with a detailed receipt accompanying the request.

accepting the school meal service program milk bid submitted by Hiland Dairy and the Pan-o-Gold bread bid. According to the South Tama Food Service the Hiland bid was one to two cents lower per item than the Anderson-Erickson bid. The Pan-O-Gold bid was 10 to 20 cents per item lower than the Bimbo bid.

accepted the resignation of Deb Hoskey, part-time middle school educational aide.

approved Superintendent Jared Smith for bank transactions and to discontinue the signature of former Superintendent Jeff Berger.

Board members also reviewed information from the Center for Public Education about effective school boards and filled out a questionnaire for use at the next board meeting for review by a consultant whom will be making a presentation.
